Back in December, it came to the media's attention that a man in Brooklyn was trying to get the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington street in Brooklyn that you might know from the corner of the Beastie Boys 1989 album Paul's Boutique renamed 'Beastie Boys Square'. The petition went before a local community board panel earlier this week, who stated he'd have to get more signatures from neighbourhood residents before any action was taken.

He already had a good deal of signatures, of course - 17 out of 20 apartment units and 8 out of 9 businesses had signed off on the idea, which meets the 75% requirement for a co-naming. They're now asking for him to get 500 signatures before they vote on the idea again, on 28 January. Jeez. He really has to fight for his right to party/get a street corner named after the Beastie Boys.
