Pip Blom is a name that has been gaining in buzz over the course of the last year, especially helped by her string of acerbic and witty singles from last year. She's not slowing down, either, having today announced that she'll be putting out a new 4-track EP in August, as well as putting out new single 'Pussycat'.

It's immediately clear why Pip Blom has been invited to open for such storied alt-rock acts as The Breeders and Garbage, as 'Pussycat' comes flying out of the gates with an appropriately purring guitar combination, immediately glueing your attention. This is solidified by Blom's perfectly sneering vocal performance, where her dissatisfaction is held in check just under the surface, until the song's fierce and feisty chorus, where she lets it out in combative and challenging form. 'Pussycat' is a scything and guileful track from the young singer and her band, promising riotous things to come from them in both live and recorded form.

Pip Blom's new EP is called Paycheck and will come out through Nice Swan records on August 24th. She and her band are doing a lot of touring, catch them here:
