East London alt-pop trio, Playing House subvert the norms of pop music in their video for 'New Haircut,' the title-track off their debut EP, out April 8. The three-piece may write about darker themes like birth, death and anxiety but the visuals for their new sonic offering are bright, bold and playful. It's a potent introduction, sonically and graphically.

"We wanted to be brave and playful with our first video and make something really true to us and have fun. We were lucky enough to work with amazing artist and director Ewen Farr (UAL graduate) who has worked on animations for Danny Brown, deadmau5 and Quelle Chris," Playing House said in a statement.

"We looked to 90s hair and beauty adverts and old Jerry Springer re-runs and the idea of the created self as both grotesque and empowering. He really got on board with making a bold video and we trusted him to make it as surreal as he wanted, working with film and hand drawn layers. A friend let us film it in her neon workshop in Bow, East London (Neon Specialists for Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst & Hix) which helped keep it really relaxed, we just played for hours, had some drinks, hung out with our friend's dog and let the animation shape the video."
