A little while back, the group now formerly known as The Morning Benders changed their name to Pop Etc after discovering that their previous title was also a homosexual slur. The announcement was quickly followed by rumors of possible new material.

In an interview with Pitchfork released earlier today, the group announced their self-titled follow-up to 2010’s Big Echo, which is scheduled for release 12 June. Producers Danger Mouse and Andrew Dawson also assisted with the project, which was mostly produced by the Brooklyn-via-California band.

The newly-named group also released a free mixtape a few weeks back, which you can download on their website. All indications point to a poppy change for the now trio (bassist Tim Or has left the group), with ‘Halfway to Heaven’ and ‘Everything Is Gone’ expected on the self-titled release. Listen to both cuts below.
