They say don't work with children or animals, but they're obviously not aware of the 405's obsession for all things cat-related. Wait, we mean dog-related. Yes, dogs.

Following our recent feature on Invader Girl and her lovely feline friends, we sent Kate Beard to hang out with Black Moth's Harriet Bevan and her wonderful dog Iggy. Iggy Pup.

Firstly, what's your dog's name and what made you pick it (the name and the dog)?
Having become addicted to browsing puppies on pets4homes.co.uk, I realised this was getting unhealthy, so the only solution was to make the life-changing, social life-demolishing decision of inviting a dog friend into my life. There was a gaping hole in my existence down in London and my late grandmother's little pink chair seemed to be screaming out for a handsome little lap dog to curl up on it. It was a wild fantasy. I went to visit a couple of puppies who were the last of their litter in Harrogate when up north for band practice and Iggy was just The One. He was the runt of his litter, a little golden god, boss-eyed and rolling around like a maniac. He told me he was a streetwalkin' cheetah with a heart full of napalm and I knew he was my Iggy Pup. We were made for each other.

When did you get the dog and how would you describe your relationship?
I've had him for 9 months and our relationship is perfect. I think we might both have quite serious attachment issues but its ok as he loves coming to the pub with us. We spend a good deal of our lives spooning on the sofa while I read. Things could be a lot worse. Seriously, get a dog.

What's your dog's favourite toy?
He had this little blue teddy we bought him to replace his brother in his bed. He loved him so much he destroyed him. A gruesome carnage of fluff and polyester. Such is life. Now he hangs out mainly with these stuffed burger and hot dog toys his doggy poppa got him.

Do you think your dog likes your music?
He couldn't care less. Certainly not as much as he likes cat poo.

Has your dog shown any musical talent?
No, he's absolutely dreadful on guitar. Worse on drums. I despair.

If your dog was a famous jazz musician, who would she be?
He's not a jazz musician he's the godfather of Punk for goodness sake!

Does your dog have any special skills?
[Laughs] no.

What is your favourite celebrity dog (real or fictional)?
There's a chapter called 'Karenin's Smile' in The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera which is about the couple's pet dog. I think it's one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've come across about the uniquely special love of a hound. Theres also an animation you can find online called My Dog Tulip which is unbelievably lovely. Also I'm a fan of Turner and Hooch.

Lastly, what do you have coming up (non-dog related) that we should know about?
We have the release of our single 'Looner' on flexi disc with limited edition artwork on 20th April, plus a ridiculously awesome video for it by Ben Foley who did Turbowolf's 'Solid Gold'. We then head off on a UK tour with Amplifier which will be sick! We're also supporting my absolute heroes, L7, on their UK dates in June! Good times!
