After sharing a new track yesterday, the brilliant 'HARDROCKLOVER', Prince has removed his music from all streaming services – except Tidal, it turns out.

The move comes after the official launch of Apple Music this week (30th June) – it's a major exclusive for Tidal, a slight on Apple's new baby and Spotify, and sort-of-confirmation that SoundCloud exists outside the sphere of music streaming services. (The new track, 'HARDROCKLOVER', was uploaded to and still sits on Prince's SoundCloud)

"Prince's publisher has asked all streaming services to remove his catalog," it now says on Spotify artist page for Prince. "We have cooperated with the request and hope to bring his music back as soon as possible."

Will all artists, or rather their publishers, begin to pick sides? Judging from the exclusivity given to Apple in the form of Dr. Dre's 1992 album The Chronic and Taylor Swift's 1989 the answer is most likely yes.
