Yesterday saw the announcement of a much expected update from Sony, a thinner and 'lighter' PS Vita 'slim' model, PCH-2000.

The new features are a 20 percent thinner design and 15 percent lighter weight as well as a new LED display that supposedly improves quality over the original OLED. The console will have an inbuilt 1GB storage and can now be charged via micro-usb.

Japan will see this model launch first in Black, White, Green/White, Light blue/White, Pink/Black, and Khaki/Black colours. It is expected to ship in Japan on October 10th retailing at 18,980 yen.
