Although he's best known for the sad indie-pop songs he creates as Lontalius, Wellington, New Zealand musician Eddie Johnston also writes melody and harmony-heavy dance music as Race Banyon. Last year Eddie visited Los Angeles to perform alongside Sylvan Esso during Red Bull Sound Select's #30DaysInLA festival series.

While he was there, he spent some time working in Red Bull Studios with Drake/Kendrick Lamar producer DJ Dahi. Last month he released the first of the songs they recorded in these sessions, 'What Are We Doing' featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

More recently, they unveiled 'Surface' featuring emerging vocalist and songwriter Kenzie May. Built around cloudy synth textures and a subtle drum machine bounce, 'Surface' serves as the perfect platform for Kenzie's late 90s RnB melodies and decidedly oceanic lyrical metaphors about love, relationships and the intricacies of intimacy.
