It's no secret that rock has ruled the music world for the past few decades. From the radio charts to award shows, rock bands would dominate the musical sector. But those days are over. Rap music is now the most popular music on the planet.

Nielsen's mid-year reports are in and it looks like R&B and hip-hop are responsible for 25.1% of all music consumed in America. Rock clocked it at 23%. R&B and rap are also more accessed on streaming services, with Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You' nabbing the most streamed song of the year, followed by Migos' 'Bad And Boujee.' Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. is the most sold album of 2017 so far.
