Welcome Home by Til Tuesday

Record Shopping with Dream Wife at Philadelphia Record ExchangeAlice Go: This is Aimee Mann’s early band. See she’s got the classic rat tail plaid? (laughs). I remember seeing like she had a strong image at this time, she used to wear these little hats, bleached hair, rat-tail plaid, absolutely bold image. She did the soundtrack to Magnolia, a lot of the songs. This is the early appearance of a legend.

Sketches: The Demos 1974-75 by Television

Record Shopping with Dream Wife at Philadelphia Record ExchangeAlice Go: Marquee Moon is one of my favourite Television albums, the title track is on this. This was actually recorded by Richard Williams and Brian Eno. It sounds amazing for demos, and Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell, also legends. Television’s guitar, I think it’s definitely part of Dream Wife’s guitar in a sense, I think the way they unfold and tell a story and have their own kind of thing going on, Television’s definitely in there somewhere. Lots of early stuff from legends, that’s the vibe.

Eaten Alive by Diana Ross

Record Shopping with Dream Wife at Philadelphia Record ExchangeBella Podpadec: Want to hear a little bit about Diana Ross? I kind of only got into Diana Ross a couple years ago, I found this Best Of album in my parents’ house and there were just like relentless hits. I think she’s done like 70 albums or been featured on 70 albums or something. She’s so prolific and powerful. Me and Alice used to do a Diana Ross covers band, it was this punk version of Diana Ross songs, it was really, really good. fun. We did four live shows and that was it, these four very specially selected gigs. And it was this kind of thing where anyone could be in the band if they showed up and wore red, it was a good time.

Communications ’72 by Stan Getz

Record Shopping with Dream Wife at Philadelphia Record ExchangeRakel Mjöll: Stan Getz! Every time I have a dinner party, Stan Getz. He makes everything seem like a Mad Men party, like the '60s. However, I’m not home much because we’re on tour. So hopefully a Stan Getz dinner party soon.
