The Revolution Will Not Be Televised by Gil Scott-Heron

Record Shopping with HauxThe first record I ever bought on vinyl for two dollars at a garage sale. Reminds me of my old apartment in Park Slope.

Wintermusik by Nils Frahm

Record Shopping with HauxTo be honest, I can’t say I’ve listened to this album all the way through. Nils is an artist I always listen to in the morning when I’m at home. I usually shuffle his entire catalogue so I never know which songs are playing. For me, his music is all about the atmosphere it creates.

The Miseducation Of by Lauren Hill

Record Shopping with HauxOne of the first full records I fell in love with. I used to listen to it front to back over and over when I was in high school.

The Age Of Adz by Sufjan Stevens

Record Shopping with HauxI love how much of a contrast this album was to the rest of Sufjan’s catalogue at the time. I remember being shocked when I heard it for the first time, then over time coming to appreciate the evolution of the ideas in the music and lyrics.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake

Record Shopping with HauxPossibly my favorite musician. I remember hearing Pink Moon first and admired the simple beauty of it. Five Leaves Left felt a little darker with more production. It’s an album I always come back to when I’m feeling lost.
