Jeff Buckley - Grace

Record Shopping with JONESI was introduced to this album about 10 years ago and I remember being completely blown away by his voice and then thinking how much Chris Martin of Coldplay resembled him and figured he must've listened to Jeff a lot. This guy's range is crazy and made me want to practice singing a lot more. On my first listen I remember thinking man this is dark - then went and googled him and found out how he died and it all kind of made a bit more sense.

Grace is such an epic track with its twists and turns.

Stevie Wonder - Hotter Than July

Record Shopping with JONESStevie is the man and I won't hear a bad word about him. I know he can have a reputation of bringing the cheese factor but I grew up listening to him and can thank him for my first name - my mum named me after his song 'My Cherie Amour'. Stevie always felt like he was an uncle of mine or something his voice and sound had such a presence in my household as a kid that he literally just felt like family. This album, in particular, has been on heavy rotation both through my mum's vinyl and then when I start listening to my own music. Do Like You was one of my favourites - I remember singing along to that with one of my friends from school and mimicking the ending where the little boy smashes something. Then you've got 'All I Do', and 'Rocket Love' (this was one of the first things I ever produced on my Music Technology A Level in college) and *shed's a tear* 'Lately'.

The Beatles - With The Beatles

Record Shopping with JONESThese guys. Another childhood relic my grandad used to have a super old record player that was dusty and very limited record collection but this album was one of the few that he would listen to and me and my mum would play this sometimes at his house. Literally every song on this one is a favourite probably because of the nostalgia of seeing images and little me and my mum dancing around my Grandad's carpet (receiving disapproving looks, bless you Grandad). Top picks being 'It Won't Be Long', 'All I've Got To Do', 'All My Loving' and 'Hold Me Tight'.

Call Me By Your Name OST

Record Shopping with JONESI will always love this soundtrack because it led me to discover Sufjan Stevens and oh my god the first time I heard that song ('Mystery of Love') which was actually before seeing the movie - I listened to it probably about 15 times before I made myself stop - so that I didn't spoil it forever. This record is mostly about the Sufjan Stevens songs! To me...but that said, after watching the dance floor scene in the film I've quite enjoyed the strange and clunky 'Love My Way' song. This is probably one I would never of ever discovered or listened to pre-movie - however compelling the band's name may be (The Psychedelic Furs). I love listening to classical piano when I'm reading so was pleased when soundtrack introduced me to some more of those lovely gems.

Tame Impala - Lonerism

Record Shopping with JONESThis was another binge-listening fest for me when I first heard it a few years back. My poor boyfriend at the time. I think I drive him more than a little mad with this one, I remember him asking me to please listen to something else as I was listening to it in the morning, when I was in the shower and then when I came back home in the evening. Constantly. 'Mind Mischief' was hands down my best friend on the album I just loved getting lost in that one (on repeat, of course). For me though this is one of those that I can put on start to finish and listen back to back without skipping anything. I love you Kevin Parker.
