Chad Stockfleth hopes to connect with fans directly in order to tell the fascinating story of the Elephant 6 Record Co. creative community in a new documentary A Place We have Been To. It will revolve around interviews and archive footage with more of an intriguing montage-vibe than a behind-the-scenes exposé.

The project is looking for funding via Pledge Music. As of today the film has reached 20% of the target. Perks for donors range from a digital download of the documentary and exclusive updates for around $20/£12, to an executive producer credit (if you have $5040/£3075 to hand).

E6 is a combination of the initial artistic movement started in 1993 in Athens, Georgia and an ethos of high quality production values fostered by the like-minded indie-band founders. Watch the preview video accompanying the Pledge page for more. Past and present members include Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal and The Apples In Stereo.

Take the crash course on Spin for everything else you could possibly need to know about E6.
