Rhys Lewis starts 2019 in a tender manner with new single ‘Better Than Today’. Described as a track written to ease his own anxieties about the state of the world today, it is reflective and mournful, looking back on one of the most turbulent years in modern history. Yet there is hope and optimism in Rhys’s husky vocal and rousing strings bring sincerity to his melodic hook “we’re hoping tomorrow, tomorrow is better than today.”

This is the first track Rhys has produced alongside Aidan Glover, writing and recording straight to tape in their studio in South London. His sound and songwriting seem far beyond his modest 27 years, yet Lewis’s conviction and delivery feels genuine in a manner to contemporary writers including Laura Marling and Nick Mulvey.

After steadily growing his global fanbase last year, Rhys is primed for exciting things this year. ‘Better Than Today’ is available now.
