Saltwater Sun have released the visual to sun-drenched new single ‘Blood’. The temperatures may still be fairly baltic outside, but the five-piece are warming things up with this woozy cut, lifted from a forthcoming EP titled The Great Deceiver. Lead singer Jen Stearnes’ vocal delivery evokes Debbie Harry, whilst the guitars feel lifted from early, grungier Cure records. An ode to kinship, the accompanying video maps the band’s giddying past year with behind the scenes tour footage and appearances. It offers a tender view of a band who clearly operate as a tight unit.

‘Blood’ also has a touching undertone, as Jen wrote this song after losing her father and reassessing the way she considers joy, happiness and life. It’s a heavy subject carried by hazy riffs and shoegaze sensibilities. She commented: "Blood is about family and the legacy we leave behind. This band is like a second family and Charlie (director) felt some footage of us trying to make our mark out on the road and behind the scenes, would capture that perfectly”.

Saltwater Sun play Liverpool Sound City and Close Up Festival London this summer, more dates to be announced.
