Sam Evian is a songwriter from New York who has been toiling around the music scene for a while, having released his debut album Premium in 2016 and toured at length in support of it, with opening slots for Whitney, Big Thief, Lucius, Luna, and Nick Hakim along the way. That quite disparate group of artists makes sense when you hear 'Health Machine' his new single from his forthcoming album on Saddle Creek, You, Forever.

In 'Health Machine', Sam Evian manages to tie together elements of country, rock, 80s pop and some experiemental production touches into a 4 minute road-odyssey. This feels like the perfect song for driving along windi ng country roads and just losing yourself in the groove and the feel of it all - and in fact that's exactly what the video (made by Brian Betancourt, Jadon Ulrich and Evian himself) taps into, combining footage taken from countless cross country journeys.

In fact, this is largely the space and feeling that has inspired the sound of You, Forever. Talking about the deeper themes of the album, Evian also adds “It’s about accepting that you are responsible for you, that you’re in charge of your actions. Everything you do affects others and yourself, so, no matter what you choose to do, be there and learn from it.”
