London-based producer Sh?m has been causing something of a ruckus amongst the grime scene with his ferocious, hard hitting productions, one of which you may be pretty familiar with. The title track to his Mob Boss EP was used in SBTV's cypher last year and immediately raised questions of "who produced this?"

With the EP set for release on April 22, we decided to find out - direct from the man himself - everything you need to know about the Mob Boss EP.

If I had to summarise the Mob Boss EP in one sentence, it would be...

Absolute madness.

The first song I created for the EP was...

'Mob Boss.' At the time, I didn't really think it was that great but after seeing Stormzy and D Double E spitting over it and the amount of people that genuinely loved the track, I thought, "why not give it a release?"

My favourite part of the recording process was...

When I made 'Vehement'. I was vibing so much from beginning to end.

The song that has evolved the most between its first incarnation and the finished EP version is...

'Underground' That tune went through what seemed like four different concepts before I started really liking what was going on! [Laughs]

The track that took the longest to nail down was...

Again, 'Underground'. It took me forever to design the sounds and process them to make them kind of emote in the way they do.

I knew the EP was finished when...

I heard the final mixdown for the untitled track with JD. Listening back, to it made me feel like both of us levelled up after that collaboration. [Laughs] The way we approached that tune was so interesting and it was surprising to know how smoothly it all formed together.

The song I am most proud of on the record is...

I'm proud of every single track but if I could just single it down to one, it would either be between 'Vehement' and 'Mob Boss'.

From all the tracks on the EP, the one I am most excited about performing live is...

'Underground'! That song is so mad. It makes me want to throw a chair out of a window.

The lyric/beat I am most proud of on the record is...

'Mob Boss.' It wasn't always like that but it definitely grew on me! [Laughs]

The Mob Boss EP will be released on April 22 via Kapsize. You can pre-order the EP now on iTunes.
