Kelsey Lu made a brief but lasting impression with her 2016 debut EP Church, and it seems she's built up even more prowess in the intervening years, judging from new single 'Shades Of Blue'.

A soft and soul-searching track, 'Shades Of Blue' takes Kelsey Lu's troubles and gradually over the course of the song, builds them up into life affirming human feelings. With the aid of strings, twinkling instrumentation, measured guitar crescendos and Kelsey's deeply resonant voice and lyrics, 'Shades Of Blue' is a stunner.

Talking about the background of the song, Kelsey Lu says: “I wrote ‘Shades of Blue; when I was squatting in a leather factory in Hoboken, New Jersey... I was really depressed at the time, and my life had flip-flopped in many ways—musically, financially, romantically and, really, soulfully. Yet, I was writing a lot more than I had been and this song is a manifestation of that point in my life. For me, it was a glimpse of hopefulness and peace from within that depression, and I can only hope it will bring a similar moment of peace to the listener.”
