I have a lot say about brotection in the music industry and the criminal behaviour of arseholes, but this goes beyond my narcissistic need to comment, now is the time to listen to what you are being told and support those voices in anyway you can. Read, listen, be the change. Here are your singles of the week:

Whitney - 'No Woman'

'No Woman' is one of those movie montage songs, images from your past flicker just behind your eyes as you listen, there is something in the sound, the way it's produced, that makes this inevitable. ...and welcome, it's very welcome. "I'm just walking in a haze" they sing, and to be honest I am too. Until the horns come in and the electric guitar matches them, then I snap out of it and realise I've been listening to a really great song. This is taken from their debut album, which will be released on Secretly Canadian, if you needed a further stamp of approval.

Container - 'Funnel'

The many different textures, bleeps, and crackles that make up this beat serve to remind me of all those parties where the music only sounded this interesting because I was out of my mind. I'm glad that someone is making that sound fresh out of the box now. My heart couldn't take all that again.

Romantic States - 'Take My Hand And Run'

This is actually a single and is available on 7" right now, which kind of weirds me out if I'm honest because if there is one thing that we all know, it's that I don't write about singles in my singles column.

Florist - 'White Light Doorway'

Florist's debut album The Birds Outside Sang comes out next week on Double Double Whammy records and if you like this song should be really excited by that fact.

Britney - 'Neon Python'

If you were having trouble sleeping, if you needed something to calm you down, something to get you ready for the big trip to Dreamtown, Bedfordshire, then this is clearly not the song you are after. It's taken from their self titled album which is released at the beginning of March.

Russian Tsarlag - 'One More Dream'

If you are into that whole slowcore sound which I invariably am, then Russian Tsarlag is a nice little discovery, despite the name. This is from last year's tape release Unexplained Image, which I just noticed on SoundCloud, so y'know, here it is.

Purple Pilgrims - 'Thru Evry Cell'

I am powerless to this dreamy, synth based, viber. I always am, and I'm fine with that.

To be honest, I think this is the best thing I've heard all week, but anyway, I think that's quite enough. I promise to give this column all of the care and attention that something that is outdated and overlooked in a couple of days/hours deserves. You can submit your music to The 405 by using your initiative and clicking around the site, although I will unsubscribe from your mailing list. Have a great day.
