I regularly get told that I'm angry, like I don't get to decide, by people who don't know me. Now, it is true that I used to care a great deal about things. It is also true that life has mellowed me since I moved out here to live on the old content farm. I don't seem to care about anything like I used to. I have a basic grasp of human psychology and a keen eye for detail when it comes to data analysis, what have I got to be angry about? I mean I'm slightly irked that people think a hashtag on social media can and should have rules, but that's as tough as it gets for me, I can sit back and watch people literally generate content for me. I can harvest all the clicks I need to make rent without even having to think about it. Here are your singles of the week:

Luke Howard - 'The End'

What a wonderfully subtle and controlled crescendo. Luke Howard makes music to dwell on. This song is here to remind or inform you that he is releasing an album called Two Places on the 22nd of April. His music heightens your experience of the world around you, inspiring thought spirals that you never considered possible. It takes a dull day and well, allows you to appreciate the dull day for what it is, a quiet miracle.

Adult Jazz - 'Eggshell'

It is now the appropriate time to rejoice in the fact that Adult Jazz are not a one hit wonder. Their debut is one of the best albums of recent years and that they can follow it up with a song that is as challengingly hook laden - oh fucking kill me I just typed that.

Sir Was - 'Falcon'

This is totally fine and then the bass does the wobble and I think it gets better but I can't be sure whether I'll agree with that in a couple of weeks. Anyway, it's on a cool label and there is a back story so it's pretty much golden, the question is whether it's the breakout or the builder.

Fenne Lily - 'Top To Toe'

Sometimes it is the simplest thing that works the best. Sometime all you need is a voice and a gentle guitar to convey the most complex message of all. Maybe it's the starkness of it all that inspires the empathy.

Anyway, enough of my shit, here’s a spotify playlist with as many songs from my column this year as I could find on there... but I think that's quite enough. I promise to give this column all of the care and attention that something that is outdated and overlooked in a couple of days deserves. You can submit your music to The 405 by using your initiative and clicking around the site, although I will unsubscribe from your mailing list. Have a great day.
