It's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore our antipodean friends. The quality of music coming out of Australia and NZ keeps getting better and better. Long gone are the days of reliance on AC/DC, Crowded House or Kylie Minogue for a southern hemisphere banger. These days we have Bret and Jemaine, Tame Impala, The Phoenix Foundation, Cut Copy and many more to rely on for great music. The latest name to add to that list could be SLEEPMAKESWAVES.

Steering away from the more conventional instrumental rock found on their 2008 EP In Today Already Walks Tomorrow, (hello) cloud mountain finds them entering the new musical frontier of sparkly quiet pop. It's subtle, built around a melodic central hook with soft guitars and no vocals, building into some progressive heavy riffs around the 2 minute mark. Uplifting, euphoric and a welcome steer into new frontiers.

SLEEPMAKESWAVES release their debut album ‘…And So We Destroyed Everything’ on 21st July.
