When you think it's just going to be all a series of bleeps and clacking beats, 'mint' by producer-beatmaker GOLDWATER hits you with an amazing cluster of virtuosic bass in the middle. And we're also treated to various ornaments added to the beat, rollicking snares and rapid-fire kicks, as the subtle-soft beeps of the beginning of the song morph into wonky synth chords. And then before you know what's hit you there's this canyon of reverbing dusty-doomful piano overrun with mystical chimings. It's a beat with a difference, grabbing elements like bass grooves and piano-led boom-bap, and turning them into altered beasts of hyper-basslines and sorrowful marches of piano amidst the highly textured bursts of percussion.
