Cincinnati shoegazers Soften will be releasing their new EP, Soften Forever, this Friday. In advance, they've shared the first single, the beaming 'Iridescent.'

Anyone who's pawed through Creation Records' catalog will gravitate towards bandleader Brianna Kelly's sumptuous vocals, also reminiscent of Mitski in how far they can carry her phrases, and the sheen on her guitar. But don't mistake this for shallow, reverberated cosplay. 'Iridescent' roars with intention and consideration. Christian imagery (namely the Beatitudes) are tied into a painful letting go of a partner. They appropriately end things talking about (bread and) wine, because Soften have made something just as rich and intoxicating.
