Last year the country was in shock as rioting took hold of the nations capital, and spread to other major cities. Music, and in particular Indie Music, was hit pretty hard with the mindless arson of the Sony DADC Distribution centre in Enfield, which was shared by PIAS. The fire left many labels without their back catalogues and affected some of new releases scheduled that summer.

Sony DADC have now announced plans to rebuild the warehouse on the same site, the new unit will be bigger and hold more office space than its predecessor and is planned to reopen as early as this summer. Sony DADC executive VP Chris Reiser noted, “when completed, our new UK distribution centre will occupy the same site, but it will provide even better support than before with more capacity, better technology and a bigger infrastructure, which is intended to support future growth."

Good news.
