Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has announced that the streaming service has reached a total of 30m paid subscribers. Casually over Twitter, EK revealed the figure while also referencing President Obama's visit to Cuba, saying that none of the subscribers were in Cuba "yet."

Spotify’s last announced subscriber figure was 20m back in June 2015. If accurate, these figures mean that Spotify is still clear of Apple Music, but the rival streaming service is gaining ground rapidly, at over 11m paid subscribers.
