Hi! I'm Gareth O'Malley, I'm 20 years old, and I live in Castlebar, which is in Co. Mayo in the west of Ireland. *Insert small-town angst here.* I write the New Music Friday column here at The 405, and when I'm not doing that, I'm usually taking on just as many reviews as I can handle, both here and elsewhere. Music is my passion: my favourite bands at the moment are Frightened Rabbit, Johnny Foreigner and And So I Watch You From Afar. I'm currently in between colleges, and come September will hopefully be doing some sort of music-related course. I tweet quite a bit, so if you want to read any of my ramblings, I'm @singthegreys on Twitter.

What do I recommend this week? It's the new album from The Joy Formidable which is called Wolf's Law and is due out on January 21st via Atlantic Records. I'd keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks, as it's a mightily impressive record, one on which the Welsh alt-rock trio pursue an even bigger and bolder sound than they did on The Big Roar two years ago. It's pretty far from a self-conscious reinvention of their sound, and is much more the logical next step for them to take. One could even call it a formidable album, but I'm not going to go there as my editor would probably kill me!
