Following on from the release of B-sides & Instrumentals 2012 - 2017 released earlier this year, Stephen Steinbrink has announced a new studio album; it's called Utopia Teased and comes out through Melodic on November 9th. The album is said to be the result of a near nervous collapse following the 2016 Ghost Ship fire in his hometown of Oakland, after which he locked himself in his shipping container studio with his instruments and a bunch of LSD and no real plans to sleep...

You can get your first dose of what came out of it in the lead single from Utopia Teased, 'Bad Love'. Considering the ingredients that went into the creation of the record, 'Bad Love' is surprisingly tight and nimble, and sounds jaunty despite its less-than-positive lyrics. Later in the song the bleeps and bloops of his myriad electronic gadgets give us more of an insight into his splayed mindset, but overall 'Bad Love' is a bouncy kick-off for the album. Listen below.

You can pre-order Utopia Teased from Melodic ahead of its November 9th release.
