There's always been a distinct sense of "girl power" within the world of music, going back even further than The Spice Girls using the term as a marketing tool. Motown had plenty of incredible girl bands, disco was all about the female vocals (try imagine a musical landscape that didn't have Donna Summer floating all over 'I Feel Love'), and riot grrrl was the movement that defined a new generation of women. Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino has managed to put together a neat little mix of her favourite women in music for Jawbone, after the session Best Coast did for them last week.

It's an interesting, diverse mix, spanning a heck of a lot of genres. From The Bangles' sugary pop, to Paramore's Hayley Williams giving her lungs a right test; from the impossible-not-to-bop-along-to The Go-Gos to Dolly Parton to Sky Ferreira. Most grounds are covered here so there's something for everyone in this mix.
