I was lame as hell when I was 15 years old. I'm not really ashamed of it anymore, in fact I've probably embraced it, but that's not a problem that Billie Marten will have. At that age she's released her debut album and signed to Chess Club Records, who will be releasing her new single 'Heavy Weather' that's backed by a cover of Royal Blood's 'Out of the Black'.

Her voice is pure and her lyrics are wise beyond her years, and she's backed by a lone acoustic guitar which allows her gorgeous vocal style to flourish. It's entrancing and haunting with a ton of heart, and having already received support from Radio 1 (and 2 and 6), XFM, and a slew of blogs it looks like she's poised to take over in 2015. 'I have to go on tour' or 'I have to record an album' is a pretty sick reason to tell your professors you have to miss class if I do say so myself. Stream the ethereal 'Heavy Weather' below.
