After a slew of well-received mixtapes, Louisiana rapper Kevin Gates finally has a debut LP for us all to feast our ears on. The Baton Rouge wordsmith has been prominent in the southern hip-hop scene since his first tapes back in 2007/2008, collaborating with Young Money stalwarts and Pusha T over the years, and garnering a steady, loyal fanbase in his home locale and across the globe.

Stranger The Fiction marks his first foray in albums, and features guest slots from Wiz Khalifa, Starlito, Dreco, Migos and Juicy J. Following on from the themes addressed and styles utilised on his breakthrough mixtape The Luca Brasi Story, which dropped earlier this year, Gates unleashes torrents of introspective storytelling paired with crunchy trap beats and diamond-glimmer synths. He's a fan of autotune on tracks like lead single '4.30am', flipping between a hoarse croak and ritzy croon above cinematic hooks. Stranger Than Fiction is available to stream now below, with four additional tracks, or via iTunes, clocking in at a pared-down 14 tracks.
