Artists like Tobias Jesso Jr., Natalie Prass, and Jessica Pratt in the US (not to mention Marika Hackman and Rebecca Clements in the UK) seem to have ushered in the age of the heartfelt, lone singer/songwriter backed by a guitar and not much more. You can add Nashville-based folk-rock artist Liza Anne to that quickly growing list, and she's independently releasing her sophomore album TWO next week on 19 May.

Bringing together the lush instrumentation of groups like The Staves with the emotional intimacy of Noah Gundersen, TWO is an absolutely stunning listen from start to finish. It was produced by COIN's Zachary Dyke and mixed/mastered by Chad Wahlbrink (Joseph LeMay, the Soil & the Sun), and it's her first foray into making her sound more than the 'girl with an acoustic guitar' days of her past by adding fuller instrumentation, lush soundscapes, and thunderous drums to the mix. It's a perfect record for those chillier summer nights by a bonfire, not too in-your-face but staying incredibly interesting to keep it from falling flat.
