Colorado based newcomer Roo & the Howl has a name that fits her quite well. 'Roo' comes from the old English word for quiet, and provides a stark contrast to 'Howl' - when you take a listen to her new single 'Lay Me Down', you'll understand why the comparison is made. Her voice is dreamy and powerful, the kind of voice that could sing you to sleep or tear you to shreds, depending on your (or her) mood. She had a strong showing at this year's SXSW and is preparing for the release of her debut album ME/WE on 20 May, which should be an absolute stunner if it's even half as good as 'Lay Me Down'.
