Earlier this week, Sub Pop released Father John Misty's new album I Love You, Honeybear in all regular formats (LP, CD, and digital). The label also issued a couple of deluxe-packaged vinyl editions, a 2xLP tricolour vinyl which came packaged in a "Dioramic, Meta-Musical Funtime gatefold jacket." Unfortunately, for some of the fans who bought it, the "Dioramic, Meta-Musical Funtime gatefold jacket" ruined their listening experience.

"In short," Sub Pop explains in a note posted today on their website, "the extra, bulging thickness of the pop-up art in the Father John Misty jacket creates a lump that, when the LPs are sealed and packed, pushes into the LPs, causing the vinyl to warp and making that handsome, painstakingly and expensively produced jacket an elaborate record-destroying device."

The label has confirmed people can trade their warped vinyl for "100% non-warped, colored-vinyl LPs" (only the record). Find out more by heading here.
