Since cutting ties Virgin EMI, South London's Tanika has been on the grind non-stop. But in her determination to continue working and ultimately make up for lost time, she had a realisation. During a recent birthday trip to Jamaica, she noticed that her most recent music - namely the impressive Out Here EP - wasn't connecting with her family members as much as she would have liked. So, while in Jamaica, she began crafting the early stages of her next project Birthdays in Jamaica.

"What my family think of my music and the message I'm going to leave behind is important to me," she told Complex. "Obviously, conceptually, ['Sweetest Ting'] is about love, but being able to show my blackness through my records is something that's going to make them smile."

The island flavoured 'Sweetest Ting' also features man of the hour, Big Tobz ("I picked Big Tobz to feature because he is just the one! He's got the real sauce," she added) and acts as the perfect introduction to Tanika's next step. 'Sweetest Ting' is available now on iTunes and all good digital platforms while Birthdays in Jamaica will follow soon.
