Camberwell College of Arts

Xiang Di Nie, MA Visual Arts, 2011

"This is a series of surrealistic images named ‘Nostalgia’, made by collage and drawings . The inspiration came from a love of vintage objects I was fascinated with. I like the trace of time on those objects, it brings lots of stories, memories and imaginations.

So I chose photos of four vintage objects to make collage with vintage illustrations and drawings. I tried to give new meaning to each vintage object, they are not only the objects they used to be, but also something else. That is what I want to say about past and our memories."

Wimbledon College of Art

Linda Krefft, BA (Hons) Fine Art: Print & Time Based Media, 2012.

Linda Krefft works across print, video and video installation. She is motivated by the possibilities of documenting what she calls “a modified reality”, offered by the media of photography and film. Her work plays with the medium of video itself and how its synthetic character presents an inherent opposition to nature.

Krefft’s video installations, which mostly consist of live feed projections onto screens or structures, explore sensual perceptions via spacial and physical illusion by altering sound and image quality. By layering real-time projected images over physical objects or processes (such as water flowing from one bucket into another) she creates an interplay between the two; reality and its digital counterpart. Here her pieces suggest the real existing inside the screen, the illusion appears more real than the real. Thus the façade tells us more of the system.
