Name: E B Frankel

About Me: Well hello, unemployment! As a newly jobless chappy, I have a lot of spare time to indulge in the things listed below which might explain how stupidly pompous a lot of them are, but ya know, whatever - I do what I want, when I want, where I want, so suck it.

Listening To: A couple of days ago I was searching for Pashto music from Afghanistan and Pakistan, as you do, and came across a dude called Noor Muhammad Khan. Turns out he is an American who converted to Islam and lived in and moved around Pakistan a whole bunch in the 70s and 80s. Whilst over there he learned how to play an instrument called a Rabab - which also features on our international hit single Everything is Dancing, natch - and recorded a bunch of music with local musicians which he then added synths and vocals to. It's fucking weird, and amazingly melodic. I felt like I'd stumbled across some fucking lost treasure of "outsider" music or some shit. Anyway, he is awesome and this song is some serious proto-Panda Bear shit. I've also been vibing to some sweet Bill Evans and Charles Mingus jams. Oh and Fleetwood Mac whilst I've been on tour, obvs.

Reading: I just finished Francoise Sagan's Aimez-Vouz Brahms? which was heinously over-romantic. Her first novel, Bonjour Tristesse, was one of my favourite teenage reads - this wasn't anywhere as youthful or gratifying as that, but was still quite lovely. Now I'm starting on Tender is the Night by F Scott Fitzgerald, because it is set where i grew up and makes me feel at home. I've also started a book called Les Falsificateurs by a French fella called Antoine Bello and I don't think I have a clue what it's about yet.

Watching: Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Seinfeld and Blue Planet. I don't like movies.

Eating: I have just made myself Turkish lentil and bulgur wheat soup for lunch with some super soft Turkish bread that Mo at the shop round the corner forced me to buy. My next culinary adventure is going to involve buying some fuckin beef, freezing it, then slicing that piece of shit real thin - then I'm gonna slather it in some serious dressing, Parmesan and some boss salad. BOOM, DIY-Carpaccio. Shit does not get more real than that.

Promo Info: Buy Everything is Dancing on vinyl from us, or on CD here - ya diiiig? and we have a new 7" coming out on Tough Love of our early punk stuff, pre-order that here.
