Name: Fujiya & Miyagi (David Best) About me: David Best, Scorpio, born Leamington Spa. Listening to: I'll been listening to ‘Cloudbusting’ by Kate Bush a lot the last few days. Other than that I'm still listening to the Emeralds record Does It Look Like I'm Here? I never get bored of it and each time I listen to it something else appears that I hadn't noticed before. I mainly listen to it when I'm going to the supermarket or waiting in the post office. It makes time seem less important and slows down reality, which is no mean feat. Reading: I've just finished two books. The first was J. G. Ballard's final novel Kingdom Come and the other was a biography of Oskar Kokoshka called Eye of God by Susanne Keegan. I've started another Ballard book called Rushing to Paradise. Over the last 18 months or so I've been working my way through all of his stuff. I think I just have three or four novels to go. I'm taking my time as I don't want them to come to an end. My favourites are Concrete Island, High Rise and Unlimited Dream Company. Watching: I enjoyed the Gainsbourg film. I thought that was really well done, especially the Gainsbarre puppet. Whenever Music & Lyrics is on the TV I try to watch it. The chemistry between Grant and Barrymore is electric. The song ‘Way Back into Love’ often pops into my head. I watched Inception for the second time as the first time I watched it I fell asleep. I enjoyed it more being awake. Or was I dreaming all along? Who knows. Playing: I have a ten week old son called Riley. All my playtime is with him. We have made up some dance moves to the song ‘Blame it on the Boogie’. He's especially good at the 'I just can't, I just can't, I just can't control my feet' section. Eating: I'm not that bothered about food. I eat cheese on toast for breakfast and cheese on toast for lunch, but I have something different for dinner. Promo Info: The album is out now. I'm really happy with how it turned out. We have some UK shows in March then we go back to the states. I'm not great at self-promotion.
