There’s a certain type of confidence that can only come from bands. Especially the bands who sing about real experiences. Louisiana-based band Seratones are a great example of this, and their upcoming sophomore album, Power, further solidifies that fact. This time around, frontwoman AJ Haynes dug within her vulnerabilities and experiences of being a young black woman in America to fuel the songwriting.

On this episode of the podcast, Ken Grand-Pierre talks to Haynes about working on the new album, how touring impacted her life, and the counselling work she’s done with Hope Medical Group in Shreveport (1 of 3 abortion clinics in Louisiana).

"It’s just that element of fire."
