We always envision bands as a gang of friends, but what happens when that gang is entirely made up of your family? In the case of Australian band, The Rubens, that recipe actually works out quite beautifully. Over the last seven years, they’ve released numerous albums, toured the world, and found new ways to reinvent themselves. 2018 was a landmark year for the band, as they released their third album, Lo Ra Ru, which finds them delving into pop territories while also making sure not to abandon their guitars in the process. They also embarked on an extensive tour throughout their native Australia with PINK.

Back in the summer, Ken Grand-Pierre had a Skype chat with band member Elliot Margin (keyboards/backing vocals) about how the years been for the band and where they hope to go from here.

“It’s taken this long, but we’re finally comfortable with who we are as a band.”
