It’s one of the biggest cliches on earth - 'the difficult second album'. You tour around non-stop during your first album and then get put into a room with demands for album number two. A lot of acts cower at the pressure, but Philadelphia grown/Brooklyn-based Marian Hill did the exact opposite; they ran into it headfirst. They’ve come out the other side with a cohesive yet sporadic body of songs. It’s an album that strongly lives up to its name, Unusual. Ken Grand-Pierre linked up with Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol to discuss the unexpected journey towards their second album.
