You know those times where you talk to someone younger than you, and it makes you feel like their level of maturity well surpasses your own? That’s what it’s like to talk to Naaz, the Kurdish/Dutch musician who’s making waves in the music world. She has this deep love for her culture and family, which is truly awe-inspiring. Talking to her nearly made me want to call my own mum.

Ken Grand-Pierre caught up with Naaz to discuss why making music was not an act of rebellion, finding compassion within your culture, growing up in Holland, and being raised in a Kurdish household. Check out their conversation below.

“It never felt like rebellion to me because it was such a beautiful thing.”
