It’s been said a lot on this show, but it's worth reiterating: often the most difficult thing to do is make a simple song. When it comes to the lush tones of SYML’s music, it’s clear to see how much skill and intent is required to make such music. Brian Fennell (previously of the band Barcelona) is SYML, a solo project where he shies away from the distractions of the music industry and focuses solely on what makes him feel whole. His debut/self-titled album is one of 2019’s standout albums, with songs such as 'Where My Love?' leading us to believe that the album will stand the test of time. Ken Grand-Pierre met up with SYML while he was on tour in Brooklyn to learn about how this project came to be.

"Don’t cloud it, make it easy for people to understand."
