How does one start anew in the face of tragedy? If you were to ask Victor Solf (one half of the French duo, Her) he’d tell you that he never saw a need to start anew - that he just kept going. But that’s not just what he’s done, instead, he’s come out the other side a better man, largely due to completing the album he and his music partner (Simon Carpentier) began to work on many moons ago. Last summer, Simon passed away, leaving behind an unfinished collection of songs. Victor, operating on both grief and respect for his friend, took it upon himself to finish the album, the aptly self-titled debut. Ken Grand-Pierre linked up with Victor in Brooklyn to discuss the difficult journey of finishing Her.

“I discovered that I wasn’t in control anymore... and that was very scary.”
