Photobucket Photobucket Nodzzz - Undertone // 16th March 2011 It probably gets a little boring, me talking about how great Cardiff promoters Loose are. Unluckily for those of that opinion, they’re again putting on a top gig that I feel the need to say good things about. This time they team up with the folks at The Joy Collective to bring a pretty awesome line up of bands to Undertone (underneath Ten Feet Tall). Nodzzz have been hyped for a while but it’s fairly easy to understand why, their lo-fi garage-meets-punk sound is not only the hot thing right now, but they’re also backed by being great songs. Support comes from similarly hyped The Mantles, as well as Cardiff bands Strange News >From Another Star, Future of the Left guitarist Jimmy Watkins’ other pretty mental band, and Drains, bringing together musicians from bands like Samoans and Kutosis to create lots of noise. Photobucket Photobucket Tyvek - Jam // 14th March 2011 Brutally simplistic but packed full of energy and anger, Tyvek make punk music like they did back in the 70s. Honestly, from listening alone you would think this was a band supporting The Clash or Stiff Little Fingers or something. It’s good, and this is the Detroit band’s first time in the UK, so you should definitely go. Especially considering support comes from Pheromoansand and Sealings. Photobucket Photobucket Studio:Lab Olives 13/3/11 Lauren Andrews (Lisa Ambrose, Will Croft, Pheobe York) Live and Unsigned regional finalist Lauren Andrews brings her brand of sophisticated acoustic country to the launch of what may be Norwich’s first ever downloadable gig. Each gig-goer will receive a unique code which they’ll be able to use soon afterwards to receive a live recording of the show. The only way it could be more futuristic is if the gig was inserted directly into your mind via inception. But where would the fun in that be?
