Amanda Mair – The Lexington // 6th September 2012

There's a lot of really great shows happening in London this week (see below for proof of that) - but this show wins because of the overall quality. You have the wonderful Amanda Mair, backed by the equally wonderful Me and My Drummer. What a combo!

Nature Set / Downdime – The Shakespeare // 8th September 2012

Last week we had BLESSA performing on a cruise around the Yorkshire coast, this week sees a 'Ping Pong Gig' at The Shakespeare, Sheffield promoters seem keen for 'concept shows' at the moment. Six bands will play 3 half-sets on the night, 2 will be set up at one time at either end of the room and each will take turns to play a song, with the audience having to fully turn round in between each, until they are replaced by the 2 bands above them on the bill. If it all sounds a bit of a gimmick, rest assured that the indie-pop talent on the bill will make it worth putting up with!

Cate Le Bon – Brudenell Social Club // 7th September 2012

Different to the usual boy/girl with a guitar clan of singer-songwriters, Cate Le Bon has been a bit of a critics favourite recently following the release of second album CYRK, and rightly so with her warped take on pretty-folk.
