Photobucket Photobucket The Hold Steady - Manchester Ritz // 13th February 2011 This week’s pick sees the return of The Hold Steady to the UK in what will be nearly two years. Far too long for a band with such atmospheric shows and anthemic sounds. The Brooklyn based indie rockers will be at the lovely Ritz this week, so it really is a double whammy of band and venue. To add even more excitement, they will be joined by Canadian indie rock band Wintersleep, too! Photobucket Photobucket The Go! Team - Heaven // 8th February 2011 The Go! Team just released their best record and one of the best of the year so far. Photobucket Photobucket British Sea Power – The Arches // 13th February 2011 Their latest album Valhalla Dancehall has been getting some high praise and it’s all deserved. The Arches is known for being something of a mixed bag – a bar and a place where art, theatre and music are at its heart. Indeed The Arches itself claims to challenge traditional ideas of what an arts venue should be, so British Sea Power will fit right in. Photobucket Photobucket Sad Day For Puppets - Jam // 12th February 2011 Sad Day For Puppets merge the dark and noisey side of the shoegaze movement with the sweet indie pop sound synonymous with their homeland of Sweden (apologies for the stereotyping of an entire nation) to wondrous and beautiful effect. Visiting Brighton’s Jam on the end of the release of their critically lauded second full-length, this will be a show not to be missed – especially with tickets available for as little as a fiver. Photobucket Photobucket Hiss Golden Messenger – Clwb Ifor Bach // 11th February 2011 The Joy Collective and Shape Records join forces to present this beast of an evening at Clwb Ifor Bach. Hiss Golden Messenger is North Carolinan MC Taylor, who brings his country/blues/gospel/folk music to Cardiff with the help of Voice Of The Seven Thunders’ Rick Tomlinson on guitar. Support comes from a less-than-common full band show from the psych-y darkness of Cate Le Bon, and a solo slot from the kraut-y, folk-y, psych wonder H. Hawkline. Hiss Golden Messenger also play a special instore in Spiller's Records before their show. Pretty good, eh? And all in the same week that both British Sea Power and Jonny gigs sell out in Cardiff too!
