Charming, charming, charming.

This May, Bristol-based musician Chaouche releases her debut single 'I'll Lose My Mind' (b/w 'My Friend') through Late Night Tales' artist imprint, Night Time Stories. And while we wait to hear the second half of what is being described as "two cathartic hymns channelling creativity from darkness," we caught up with the artist to discuss everything from her appreciation of Dawn French to her obsession with the sound of rain.

Check out the brief Q&A below, along with the first half of the single, which we've played about 200 times this past week.

How would you describe yourself in five words?

That's A Very Hard Question.

When was the last time you tried something new?

A little while ago, my sister and I participated in a charity event run by retired marines called Operation Commando. It was one of the best weekends ever. Loads of intense outdoor activity and we stayed in the national park. Was next level. We got t-shirts and everything.

If a movie was made about your life, what actor/actress would play you and what would the film be called?

Dawn French, because I think she's really funny as fuck, and that would be nice. The movie would be called Who Knows! because, a lot of time, I wonder that.

What is the worst thing your parents caught you doing as a kid?

Probably, when I was about five, I jumped into the back seat of the car and drank methylated spirits because I thought it was lemonade. To the hospital immediately.

What inspires you?

I'm absolutely obsessed with the sound of rain. Stormy rain hitting the window is well cool. If it's not raining outside, I listen to it every night on rainfor.me. One of my favourites is a YouTube video called Rain on a Tent Made of Canvas.

What did you dream about last night?

Well... the thing is, I ate cheese on toast late at night and I dreamt about that I'd fallen into a Vincent Van Gogh painting and had to find a way out. But HOLD TIGHT! Plot twist! It turned out to be your classic dream within a dream and I woke up in a lab somewhere where they were trying to figure out the meaning or some shit. Who knows!

Lastly, what are you currently working on?

Currently working on fine tuning my first album at my studio at home and also writing new stuff for the future.
