Wherever you are in the world: good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. It is time for your 5 a day.

One day, the UK government said, "You should eat 5 portions of fruit or veg[etables] per day." Turns out you should probably eat more than that. But we think it's pretty catchy, so we've hijacked it. Here we'll list FIVE pieces of music per DAY that we think you should check out. As the Italians say, we'll be catching two pigeons with one bean (prendere due piccioni con una fava): we help spread the word about MORE artists, plus we're giving YOU more music to listen to. It's all a joy for us, really!

Throwback Thursday is a thing but our New Music Dispatch today is more like a Throwforward Thursday. #TFT. It's exciting! All of it comes from, as always, artists from anywhere, with any amount of SoundCloud followers or plays. Doesn't matter. Each one is full of promise: from Armonté's bleak and spectral 'Goodbye' and Diveliner's disorienting yet sunny 'Visit 1', to the wonky and brilliantly synth-led 'Daycare' by Alex Coco and the genuinely haunting and esoteric 'Queen Mary' by Francine Thirteen – not forgetting the heart-caressing, tear-inducing J-pop-flavoured journey by Bansheebeat titled 'Cultural Festival Arc'; it's all beautiful and worthy of love.

You've just woken up and you are shuffling slowly around your house

You dreamt about a city based in a giant palm tree (like a tropical Cleyra from FFIX)

You're wandering around the endless fens of ancient, pagan England

You are still up at 4am scrolling through Tumblrs because you're feeling nihilistic

You hope for the future and think positively but something tugs at your heart
