Wherever you are in the world: good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. It is time for your 5 a day.

One day, the UK government said, "You should eat 5 portions of fruit or veg[etables] per day." Turns out you should probably eat more than that. But we think it's pretty catchy, so we've hijacked it. Here we'll list FIVE pieces of music per DAY that we think you should check out. As the Italians say, we'll be catching two pigeons with one bean (prendere due piccioni con una fava): we help spread the word about MORE artists, plus we're giving YOU more music to listen to. It's all a joy for us, really!

It's quite easy to imagine things when you listen to music. I'm sure you've probably walked around with music on and thought, "Dang, son... this is perfect for the thing I'm doing right now" – or maybe you've done it the other way round: been doing something and thought, "Yo that song I like would just sound peachy for this current situation," or however it is you talk in your head. Your life is a film and music you like is its soundtrack. Everyone's done it. As such, the music below fits for a fictional film about the Tall City, a damn tall city on Earth where the World's Government is situated, founded in around the 23rd Century and expanded upon for a hundred or so years till the current moment, a dropout longing for the antique days of the 20th Century, when people gave shits about stuff (it's all extended hedonism and light, but unquestioning, work in the 2300s). Soundtrack below.

Grains of sugar fountaining into a night sky as delicious stars whirling around

It's a jazz café in the vintage Proto-Colony of Mars, year 2302

Looking up at the World Government's imposing skyscraper and a hint of yesteryear's determination and protest flashes in your mind

Brushing your teeth thinking about someone you like like

Taking circular magnet monorail line alone because it's something to do and the interweaving bridge-links and walkways of the Tall City seem extra busy
