In the setting of the astounding venue, the Union Chapel, we met up with the Icelandic composer and producer, Ólafur Arnalds. Having been a drummer in the metal bands, Fighting Shit and Celestine, Arnalds has experienced a very broad musical adventure, as in recent years he has been working on classical pieces with orchestral arrangements that are fitting for chamber environments. These styles have shone out in his past few albums, most recently in his April, 2010 release, ...and they have escaped the weight of darkness. Sat on the stairs of the chapel, we discussed the importance of the emphasis on genres in his music, along with what he associates with good live experiences, but firstly, here's the man in action, playing 'Erla's Waltz' on piano.
